Feeding your Netherland dwarf rabbit is not that complicated. However, its activity level must be taken into consideration to its nutritional diet. Rabbits, like many other pets, should be given the right amount of recommended food for balanced nutrition because a proper diet can lengthen the life expectancy of your rabbit.
Rabbits are herbivores, which means that their entire diet must be made up of plant products. It is also important to realize that rabbits have a great need for fiber in their diet.
Actually, making sure your rabbit’s nutritional needs are met is pretty simple – a balanced rabbit diet should be made up of high-quality commercial pellets, fresh timothy hay, oat hay, and fresh vegetables.
Your rabbit also needs constant access to fresh water because this also plays a role in your rabbit’s digestion.
When choosing a high-quality commercial food to use as your rabbit’s staple diet, there are a few things to consider. First, the food must contain at least 18% fiber; the more the better. And make sure the foods you are buying are fresh.
Do not buy more than your rabbit can eat in 6 weeks because that is about how long the pellets will stay fresh. After that point, they will lose some of their nutritional value and will not provide your Netherland dwarf rabbit with the nutrients it needs.
